Gayle King Seemingly Ignores Stephen Jackson After He Blasts Her ‘Super Trash’ Interview w/ South Carolina Head Coach Dawn Staley
Former NBA star Stephen Jackson let his feelings be known toward “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King this past weekend.
Stephen Jackson recently took to his Instagram account to call out Gayle King following her interview with South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley after they beat the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament in the national championship earlier this month.

If you didn’t already know, journalist Gayle King, 69, is currently under fire after telling Dawn Staley that “we were all cheering for Iowa, of course, and Caitlin Clark,” during their one-on-one conversation following her team’s win. In addition to taking home the women’s title, it’s important to note that the Gamecocks also had an undefeated season.
Excuse me Ms. Gayle I am not sure who you are referring to when you say we all were rooting for Iowa. NO we ALL were not! ????? #Gayleking pic.twitter.com/dEO3ebas1E

In the video shared to his 900,000 plus followers, the 46-year-old retired NBA player said,
“So, Gayle King’s supposed to be somebody that’s big in the journalism space, right? And I don’t consider her Black media. Y’all give her all these passes because she’s Oprah’s friend. I don’t give a f*ck whose friend she is.”

Referring to King’s interview, he continued,
“… But you cannot demean Dawn Staley like that. You’re talking to her about winning the championship, about going undefeated. And you have the nerve to get on there and say, ‘We was rooting for Caitlin Clark and you broke everybody’s hearts.’ Who is ‘we’? Who is ‘we’? All the Black people I know was rooting for Dawn Staley. We’re all fans of Caitlin Clark, but the way you put it, that sh*t was trash.”

Stephen Jackson added,
“I’m glad it’s a new day in the media space… You don’t even say stuff like that to somebody on an interview. You just demeaned her and made it about Caitlin Clark. That’s trash, super trash.”

Despite Jackson’s public frustration toward King, it appears the TV personality is ignoring his criticism. Her latest post, which was shared to her 1 million Instagram followers yesterday (April 21), featured a photo of herself alongside her close friend Oprah Winfrey, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and R&B singer Alicia Keys.
