Ja Rule Gives 40 Formerly Incarcerated NYC Mothers Their Flowers By Hosting Special Mother’s Day Luncheon
New York City native Ja Rule gave back to his community in a big way. The rapper recently hosted a special luncheon for 40 former incarcerated mothers and their children at the popular hotspot, Sei Less restaurant, in his hometown. The event was held to give mothers their flowers as this upcoming Mother’s Day lands on Sunday, May 12.
The mothers and children affected by the criminal justice system dined on some of the Asian fusion restaurant’s most sought-after menu items, including, Beijing chicken, filet mignon with broccoli, chicken satays, and rock shrimp tempura, according to a press release shared with Complex. Ja Rule also took time out to take photos. He listened to those in attendance who shared their stories about being involved in the system while navigating probation and parole.

Ja Rule also shared insight about his journey with the criminal justice system. The “I’m From New York” rapper, 48, was previously sentenced to two years in jail in June 2011 for illegal gun possession after a traffic stop. Ja Rule partnered with The Ladies of Hope Ministries and the Reform Alliance to execute the event. The Ladies of Hope Ministries is an organization that provides resources for formerly incarcerated women. The Reform Alliance aims to transform probation and parole by changing laws, systems, and culture to create real pathways to work and well-being.
The hip-hop mainstay has continued to stay on top of his career while giving back. Ja Rule is currently touring across two countries and has 12 concerts coming up, including in Brooklyn, NY. He also announced in an X post about signing a new record deal.
“Just signed my new label deal potentially worth a hundred mill… LFG!!! Thanks for the love and to the haters SMD…”

Ja Rule also says he plans on giving back by building a school in Ghana.
“I’m also building a school in Ghana can’t wait to go and break ground… Rule love the kids!!! “

Between an upcoming album and plans to continue to give back, Ja Rule shows no signs of slowing down.
