Andy Cohen Cleared Of Misconduct Claims From Former ‘Real Housewives’ Stars As Bravo Wraps Investigation + ‘Watch What Happens Live’ Renewed Through 2025
Update (May 10, 2024): Bravo has completed its investigation into Andy Cohen amid claims from former Housewives stars, and the network exec is in the clear. In fact, his Watch What Happens Live show has been renewed through 2025.
A spokesperson for Bravo said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter,
“The outside investigation into the recent allegations made by Brandi Glanville and Leah McSweeney against Andy Cohen has now been completed, and the claims were found to be unsubstantiated.”
Original Story (April 19, 2024): Andy Cohen has no plans to walk away from Bravo amid recent reports that he’s working out a deal with the network for his exit.
The longtime Bravo exec, Watch What Happens Live host, and executive producer of the long-running Housewives franchises, was said to be “negotiating a departure package” amid head-turning accusations from several Bravolebrities.
“Negotiations for Cohen’s departure package are underway as he grapples with the fallout from mounting accusations by his stars.”
However, the network has shut down the claims and said in a statement,
“There is absolutely no truth to this story and [the publication’s] source obviously has no clue about the situation.”
In recent days, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville, 51, accused Andy Cohen, 55, of sexual harassment. Brandi Glanville alleged that Andy Cohen sent her a video while “obviously inebriated,” saying he wanted to “sleep with another Bravo star” while “thinking” of her. He allegedly “boasted” about his fantasy and invited Brandi Glanville to watch the act on FaceTime.
He later took to Twitter to clarify his side of what happened and wrote,
“The video shows Kate Chastain and I very clearly joking to Brandi. It was absolutely meant in jest, and Brandi’s response clearly communicated she was in on the joke. That said, it was totally inappropriate and I apologize.”
Former Real Housewives of New York star Leah McSweeney, 41, also alleged in a lawsuit against Cohen that he snorted cocaine with several Real Housewives stars.
Cohen denied the claims in a fiery statement via his lawyers last month.
“To be clear: these allegations are categorically false. Mr. Cohen never used cocaine with any cast member on any Real Housewives show or with any other Bravo employee. The absence of any reasonable basis to make such allegations is confirmed by your pleading itself.”
The attorneys continued
“[W]e demand that you immediately retract and withdraw all allegations relating to Mr. Cohen’s purported ‘cocaine use.’ The allegations were obviously made up by you and/or your client to achieve maximum tabloid clickbait value in the hopes of weaponizing these false allegations—along with other lies that permeate the complaint—as leverage to force an unjustified settlement. It will not. Instead, this conduct only subjects you and your client to independent and substantial legal exposure. An allegation of drug use in the workplace is a serious charge.”
They concluded,
“The truth matters. Litigation cannot be used to create fake news. And it cannot be used as a vehicle to spread false and malicious lies, in furtherance of a shakedown. We demand that you issue an immediate public retraction and apologize to Mr. Cohen. Every day you fail to do so only increases the damages suffered by Mr. Cohen.”
