Tory Lanez’s Wife Files For Divorce After Less Than 1 Year Of Marriage

Tory Lanez’s wife is ready to part ways with him.

Raina Chassagne, who privately married the Grammy-nominated artist on June 25, 2023, recently filed for divorce. She checked off irreconcilable differences as the reason and requested physical and legal custody of their son Kai, 7.

Raina Chassagne didn’t change her last name after their union. Still, she did bring Kai to visit Tory Lanez multiple times as he serves his 10-year prison sentence at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.

It’s not clear how long the two dated before tying the knot in June of last year, two months before Tory Lanez was sentenced for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot during a heated exchange in the summer of 2020. Megan Thee Stallion later confirmed she and Tory Lanez were in a relationship at the time.

However, Raina Chassange publicly supported him during his trial and shared a statement with the judge at his sentencing hearing. It wasn’t public knowledge that they were married. She pleaded with the judge to avoid giving him jail time to stop the cycle of Black children being left without fathers due to incarceration.

Megan Thee Stallion has also been vocal about how the incident impacted her.

Most recently, she addressed the criticism she’s received and said during an interview,

“A lot of people didn’t treat me like I was human for a long time.”

She continued,

“I feel like everybody was always used to me being the fun and happy party girl. I watched people build me up, tear me down, and be confused about their expectations of me. As a Black woman, as a darker Black woman, I also feel like people expect me to take the punches, take the beating, take the lashings, and handle it with grace. But I’m human.”

She shared that she went through depression and began seeing a therapist, who helped her “be truthful with myself.”

She added,

“Working on myself made me get into working out because I needed to focus my energy somewhere else. I used working out to escape and to get happy.”
