Cam’ron Says Jay-Z Isn’t In Love w/ Hip-Hop After He Skipped Out On 50th Anniversary Tributes: ‘I Think He Likes Money More’

Cam’ron had plenty to say about how Jay-Z perceives hip-hop, particularly noting his absence from any 50th-anniversary performances.

The 48-year-old rapper and media personality recently took to his platform, the It Is What It Is podcast, to address the chatter surrounding Jay-Z’s absence from the 50th anniversary of hip-hop tributes over the past year.

Cam’ron stated,

“I believe that Jay-Z, in my personal opinion, is not in love with hip-hop. I think he likes hip-hop a lot. I think he likes money more and opportunities to take his brand to the next level, and some of the stuff that may have been going on with hip-hop 50th may not have been up his alley.”

Other celebrities also noticed Jay-Z’s absence from the celebrations, including former football player Antonio Brown, who posted on X,

“Jay didn’t perform at any Hip Hop 50 concerts last year where the fans would’ve known every word to his songs, but he makes time to get ignored by rich folks smh.”

TV personality Headkrack also added to the conversation on Dish Nation, stating,

“Jay-Z didn’t show up to none of the Hip Hop 50 stuff last year. He was one of those people we were hoping was gonna pop up at something, even if it was a surprise.”

This discussion follows Jay-Z’s performance of Public Service Announcement during Tom Brady’s induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame (June 12).

Jay-Z also joined Alicia Keys for a performance of Empire State of Mind at the 2024 Tony Awards (June 11). The appearance celebrated Hell’s Kitchen, a musical loosely based on Alicia Keys’ life.
