According to reports, Julio Foolio’s death was confirmed via his attorney Lewis Fusco earlier today (Sunday, June 23rd). The rapper, real name Charles Jones, was reportedly having an airbnb pool party in honor of his birthday, which was on June 21st, when the shindig prompted a shut down by police. Foolio had been advertising the event on his social media pages, and was chronicling getting kicked out by authorities.

In one Instagram story he wrote:
“Police shut us down and kicked us out air bnb that’s crazy work”

Adding in another:
“Best birthday everrrr appreciate everybody who pulled up we turnt up til we couldn’t nomo we otw to the show now yall pull-up”

Unfortunately, Julio didn’t make it to his next show. Police state that after leaving the airbnb, the rap star was fatally shot after booking a hotel room at a nearby Holiday Inn, with his lawyer claiming he was “basically ambushed.” The Medical Examiner’s Office reportedly released a statement about the matter that read:
“The victim in this morning’s shooting is believed to be Charles Jones…Positive identification is pending confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office.”
Two other individuals were reportedly injured during the incident, with the latest reports stating they are in stable condition. At this time, police are still investigating the nature of the killing. It’s noted that Foolio was shot two other times in Jacksonville over the last three years. The musician had made quite a name for himself locally, with the popularity of his hits such as “List Of Dead Opps” and “When I See You,” which has accumulated over 45 million views on YouTube.
Reacting to the news, social media users caused “Foolio” and “RIP Julio Foolio” to trend as they expressed their sadness over the end of the young artist’s life.
