Kevin Durant Is Happily Single But Admits To Having ‘Moments’ When He Desires Companionship
NBA champion Kevin Durant is single, but he’s not ready to mingle
He recently discussed his relationship status during an episode of the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul and IShowSpeed.
When asked why he was single, Kevin Durant, 35, responded straightforwardly:
“I don’t want a girlfriend.”
He elaborated, expressing that while he does not want a relationship, there are times when he desires companionship:
“I have my moments where I want to hang out.”
Addressing the topic of heartbreak, Kevin Durant stated,
“I wouldn’t say I had my heart broken. Early on, I understood that ‘she’s not mine,’ even if she may be my girlfriend.”
He continued,
“I don’t trip on that relationship. If we’re having a good time for a moment, cool. If you end up venturing off and I do too… it is what it is.”
The conversation arose following what many believed to be a post from Kevin Durant’s Instagram Stories, featuring a graphic outlining reasons he remains single. These include:
1. I’m a massive over thinker
2. I care too deeply
3. I’m a be safe type of guy. Message me when u get home. Have a good night type of guy.
4. I have so much energy.
5. I give my all to people who don’t give me half back
6. I would do anything to make someone happy even if it means I get hurt in the process.
7. I need reassurance all the time.
8. I’ll push you away when I feel like the energy isn’t reciprocated.
9. I love old school romance and that’s just not a thing for our generation.
However, Durant stated that the post was from a “fake account” and further explained,
“I’m way too player to write some s*** like that.”
Durant’s last known relationship was with former WNBA player and basketball coach Monica Wright. The couple got engaged in 2013, but it was short-lived.
Reflecting on their split in 2014, Monica Wright expressed,
“Yeah, in my last relationship [with NBA All-Star Kevin Durant], I had to make a decision about compromising myself as a woman. I had to make a decision to leave a relationship, which a lot of people thought I was crazy to leave. There was a lot of criticism over it. But I think God had my back in it.”
In a 2015 interview with GQ, Durant admitted to struggling with how to express love in his relationship with Monica Wright:
“I had a fiancée, but…I really didn’t know how to, like, love her, you know what I’m saying? We just went our separate ways.”
