Lil Woody Says He Pinned Crimes On Young Thug To Get Police To Leave Him Alone

A prominent witness in the Young Thug and YSL RICO trial is sharing his truth, again.

The jury in the trial of rapper Young Thug and his YSL co-defendants returned to the Fulton County Courthouse for testimony today (Aug. 12). At the court hearing, members of the jury met Judge Paige Reese Whitaker for the first time and heard witness Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland speak.

In case you’re unaware, Judge Paige Reese Whitaker was assigned the YSL RICO case following the recusals of Judge Ural Glanville and Judge Shukura Ingram.

According to reports, the new judge warned Lil Woody about his hostile demeanor while previously on the stand and it seems he listened.

While testifying today, Lil Woody appeared to answer all the questions that came his way, claiming he gave authorities information about Young Thug in order to get them to leave him alone.

He said,

“To get them off of me I said, ‘Thug did this, Thug did that’ because I knew he didn’t do it and in my mind, I knew that the police would never go mess with him. It was easy for me to try and throw the blame off on him to get them off of me, and that’s what I was doing.”

Elsewhere, Woody continued

“It may seem like I’m tryna help Thug out. I’m not tryna help him out. I don’t care nothing about him, I care about the truth.”

And added,

“Police said they wanted a big fish, I’m a little fish. When they told me that, my motive was to convince them I’m telling the truth about [Thug].”

As previously covered Young Thug, real name Jeffrey Williams, 32, and more than 20 other associated individuals were detained back in May 2022 on RICO charges. The Atlanta native is currently on trial for allegedly leading his YSL group on a series of organized gang-related crimes.
