Tyrese Returns To Instagram Shortly After Claiming He ‘Officially Retired From Social Media’

R&B singer and actor Tyrese said he was done with social media platforms, but the lie detector test determined that was a lie.

The 45-year-old (full name Tyrese Darnell Gibson) recently shared what he claimed to be his final (lengthy) post to Instagram. Captioning a video of himself speaking with press and posing for pics on the red carpet with the cast of his latest film 1992, Tyrese wrote,

“I’m officially retired from social media. I’m gonna go dark. I’m gonna pray I’m gonna turn my comments off because I don’t want to be reminded of this very nasty and unbearable narrative that REAL MEN don’t cry And if and when a man has a child on the way with that beautiful woman or fiancé or wife, and she ultimately has a miscarriage [ I thank God I’ve never experienced this ] the only person who is depressed sad or even suicidal over that loss is NOT JUST the woman”

The post continued, noting that “REAL MEN these days are constantly being emasculated.” He also touched on his ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife Samantha Lee, his recently released album Beautiful Pain, noted his love for his on-again-off-again girlfriend, media influencer Zelie Timothy, and gave a thank you to mothers for “doing the full 9+ months duration in order to push our [babies] out and men will never ever ever be able to have that capability!”

Despite the rant kicking off with Tyrese claiming to be done with social media, it seems that hours after the post went up, he returned to the picture-sharing app. In addition to having new posts shared to his IG Story, Tyrese’s account has posted several new uploads to the main feed. Under one of the posts dedicated to famed siblings Janet and Michael Jackson, someone wrote,

“I thought you were taking a break and your password was changed on you devices.”

Tyrese’s short-lived social media break comes on the heels of an emotional interview with The Breakfast Club where he cried. During the segment, the “Sweet Lady” artist shared similar sentiments as his IG post and said,

“Black men cry. When a divorce happens, women aren’t the only ones devastated. When a miscarriage happens, women aren’t the only ones you should be checking on. When you can’t put food on the table because your career goes up and then it goes down, stop skipping over the man and just checking on the woman.”
