Super Bowl Halftime Show Producer Jesse Collins Praises Lil Wayne But Says Jay-Z Made The Right Pick w/ Kendrick Lamar
Another important party has entered the chat surrounding the Super Bowl halftime show.
Jesse Collins and his production company Jesse Collins Entertainment are ready to bring Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 Super Bowl halftime performance to life. On Tuesday (Sep. 17) Jesse Collins and Kendrick Lamar’s team will meet for the first time in New Orleans to get the ball rolling on the highly anticipated event. As reported, some were upset when news broke regarding the upcoming halftime show because Lil Wayne, who is from New Orleans, was not selected to perform. The “Love Me” rapper even spoke out about how he was “hurt” by the entire thing.

Jesse Collins addressed those disappointed with Variety, and said,
“We love Wayne. There’s always Vegas odds on who’s going to get to perform it. But I think we’re going to do an amazing show with Kendrick, and I think everybody’s going to love the halftime show. I know Kendrick is going to work exceptionally hard to deliver an amazing show.”
Continuing, he said,
“It’s a decision that Jay makes. Since we’ve been on board with that show, he’s made it every year, and it’s been amazing. He’s always picked right!”

Jay-Z
Jay-Z has caught a lot of flack, most notably from Nicki Minaj, over Lil Wayne not being selected to take the stage at Super Bowl LIX. There have been conflicting reports over who gets the final say in choosing the performer, with some claiming Jay-Z does because of his partnership with the NFL. In 2019, the mogul (alongside Roc Nation) inked a deal with the league to become its Live Music Entertainment Strategist.
However, other reports claim Jay-Z offers the hosting city options, but the city ultimately makes the final selection. Collins’ recent interview has only seemed to fuel those who believe Jay-Z has a vendetta against Lil Wayne and those close to him.
