WNBA Condemns ‘Racist’ & ‘Derogatory’ Comments After DiJonai Carrington Shares Threatening Email She Received
The WNBA has issued a statement against hate speech in light of a disturbing email one of their players received.
Connecticut Suns start DiJonai Carrington shared a post to her Instagram story earlier today (Thursday, September 26th) that revealed an alarming and threatening message sent to her that contained a racial slur and threat of sexual assault.
The email read:
“Worthless n***a b***h I hope someone r*pes you and cuts your head off”

In response, the WBNA released a statement that read:
“While we welcome a growing fan base, the WNBA will not tolerate racist, derogatory, or threatening comments made about players, teams and anyone affiliated with the league. League security is actively monitoring threat-related activity and will work directly with teams and arenas to take appropriate measures, to include involving law enforcement, as necessary.”

At this time it’s unclear what prompted the email. Though it’s noted that the message came shortly after the Connecticut Suns swept the Indiana Fever and their star rookie player Caitlin Clark 87-81, advancing the team to the championship semi-finals.
