Bluesky Hits 20 Million Users As People Flee X
Bluesky has hit a major milestone, reaching 20 million users after a huge surge in sign-ups following the U.S. presidential election.
The platform gained 5 million new users in just five days, benefiting from growing discontent with Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter).

Since late August, Bluesky’s user base has jumped from 6 million to 15 million by mid-November, with stars like Lizzo, Gabrielle Union, and Quinta Brunson leading the charge. Major outlets like The Guardian and The New York Times have also joined, citing concerns over X’s toxic environment.
While Bluesky is growing rapidly, it still has a long way to go to catch up to X’s 300 million users and Meta’s Threads, which boasts over 250 million monthly active users.
