FSU Basketball Players Sue Coach Leonard Hamilton Over $1.5 Million In Unpaid NIL Agreements
Six former Florida State basketball players sued coach Leonard Hamilton for $1.5 million in unpaid NIL promises, claiming he pledged $250,000 each from his “business partners.”
The lawsuit, filed in Leon County, Florida, alleges Hamilton made these assurances during team meetings and individual talks. Players boycotted a practice last season over missed payments but competed after Hamilton re-promised the funds.
Text messages in the complaint show players expressed frustration, citing financial hardships. Despite repeated assurances, the money never materialized, prompting most plaintiffs to transfer.
The suit seeks damages for breach of contract, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.
