Will Smith Allegedly ‘Still Hates’ Chris Rock Over Joke That ‘Ruined His Life’
Sources close to Will Smith claim the Oscar winner is still harboring ill feelings toward Chris Rock over the infamous slap that changed the course of his career.
The three-year anniversary of the moment Will stormed the Oscars stage and slapped Chris across the face for telling a balding joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her alopecia is approaching. Speaking on the incident seen around the world, a source reportedly shared with In Touch that Will “will never forgive Chris for ruining his life,” adding:
“He still hates the guy and his smug attitude.”

Despite winning his first-ever Academy Award that evening for his role in King Richard, Will received a 10-year ban from the Oscars, resigned from the Academy, and saw several projects delayed or pulled amid widespread backlash from the industry.
Still, Will has made a steady recovery, scoring a major comeback last year with his movie Die, which grossed $400 million at the box office.
Meanwhile, In Touch notes that while Chris initially received an outpouring of support after the incident, industry professionals have reportedly grown frustrated as he continues to bring it up in his shows. Some reportedly feel he should forgive Will and move on. The source stated:
“Chris isn’t the victim here, not in Will’s opinion… A lot of people would agree with Will and think what’s happening to Chris is karma for refusing to speak to Will or accept his apology.”
They added:
“All in all, violence against a comedian for a joke is never acceptable. From Chris’ end, he’s still haunted by what happened on that Oscars stage…He suffers from PTSD. Like Will, he’s never recovered from that slap. Others feel the best thing would be for these two egomaniacs to come together and hug it out, but they’re too proud.”
