Tina Knowles Explains Why She Put Beyoncé & Solange In Therapy As Kids Despite It Being Taboo, Says She Saw Division Growing Between Them
Tina Knowles says she caught heat from her own family for putting Beyoncé and Solange in therapy at a young age.
During a recent sit-down with Oprah, Tina opened up about her decision, revealing that even though it was “taboo at the time,” she knew something had to be done.
“I got so scared. They were, like, super close. All of a sudden, Solange started taking Beyoncé’s stuff, and Beyoncé was kind of being mean to her… I had never seen that before. I want them to be close. I want them to respect and love each other.”

At the time the girls began therapy, Beyoncé was already performing and gaining recognition as a local star. Tina says she saw the division happening early and wanted to nip it in the bud.
