Olympic Gymnast Jordan Chiles Reveals She Used To Call Herself ‘Ugly Every Day,’ Now She’s Embracing Her Body & Gracing Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Cover
Jordan Chiles has come a long way.
The Olympic gymnast is “in awe” after landing the cover of the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, a moment she says took years of self-work and healing. “I’ve embraced every single aspect of who I am and I’ve embraced the amazing body that I have,” she told PEOPLE.
“Because [my mom] was there when I would cry and be like, ‘Mom, they’re saying this. They’re saying that.’ Or I would look at myself in the mirror and call myself ugly almost every day.”

Chiles, who previously revealed that past coaches encouraged her to eat only 800 calories a day, once struggled with accepting parts of her body, especially her arms. Now, she “feels amazing” about who she is and her mom couldn’t be prouder:
“My mom actually cried a few times from some of the photos… it was more of her realizing how beautiful her daughter is and what I’ve gone through.”
We love seeing the growth and confidence! Sports Illustrated Swimsuit hits newsstands May 17.
