Michael Jackson Biopic ‘Michael’ Now Delayed To 2026 + Film May Be Split Into 2 Parts
Lionsgate’s highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, “Michael,” directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop, is now expected to release in 2026.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer announced during the company’s Q4 2025 earnings call that the film will likely move out of the current fiscal year, impacting fiscal 2026 financial results but strengthening the fiscal 2027 slate.
The film, which has a runtime of approximately 3½ hours, may be split into two parts, both potentially releasing in 2026. The cast includes Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Miles Teller as attorney John Branca, and Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael Jackson.
Principal photography wrapped in May 2024, but script revisions and reshoots are underway.
Are you disappointed that the film was pushed back?
