Las Vegas Raiders Reportedly Cut Christian Wilkins After Teammate Files HR Complaint Over Kiss On The Head
New details have surfaced about Christian Wilkins’ sudden release from the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Wilkins allegedly kissed a teammate on the head during a team meeting last week. Though described as “playful,” the gesture reportedly made the teammate uncomfortable and was taken to the team’s human resources department, prompting an internal investigation.
Schefter also reports the kiss wasn’t the sole factor in Wilkins’ release. The defensive tackle had a fracture in his left foot last year, and the team allegedly disagreed with how he chose to rehab the injury. The Raiders reportedly voided $35.2 million in guaranteed money from Wilkins’ four-year, $110 million contract.
At Wilkins’ request, the NFL Players Association has filed a grievance with the league. In a statement following his release, a Raiders spokesperson said, “This franchise has a Commitment to Excellence on and off the field.”
The team has not addressed the alleged incident publicly.
