Deion Sanders’ Son Shedeur Says He Told His Dad Not To Visit Brown’s Training Camp Until He Improves: ‘You Can’t Be Proud Of Me Right Now’

NFL rookie Shedeur Sanders is staying locked in as he works his way up the Cleveland Browns’ starting lineup.

In a recent interview, the 23-year-old explained that he’s keeping all distractions at bay, even asking his Hall of Fame father, Deion Sanders, to hold off on visiting training camp. Speaking with press on Monday (August 4) following a brief absence due to arm soreness, Shedeur addressed why Deion hasn’t been seen around camp yet.

“I don’t want him coming to see me right now because I want to get to where I want to go, then for him to see me.”

He continued: “I don’t want him to see me get a couple reps, and he’s cheering like a good dad. Like, nah, you can’t be proud of me right now. I’ve got to get to where I’m going, and I know it’s a lot I’ve got to do to get there.”

The football star noted that having Coach Prime show up would likely shift attention away from the team, calling his dad’s fame both “a gift and a curse.” According to the Cleveland Browns’ first unofficial depth chart, Shedeur is currently the team’s fourth-string quarterback. Joe Flacco landed the starting role, followed by Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel.

Do you agree with Shedeur’s decision to keep his dad away while he focuses on getting better?
