Wale Developing TV Series ‘Silk’ Based on Infamous Hitman Wayne Perry
Grammy-nominated rapper Wale is developing a new crime drama titled Silk, centered on the life of 1990s D.C. hitman Wayne “Silk” Perry.
Wale has taken a stake in Perry Industries—the company that owns the life rights to Perry—and will serve as a producer. The series is still in early development, and no network or streaming partner has been attached yet.
Perry, who once carried out murders under the direction of Harlem drug trafficker Alpo Martinez, is now serving multiple life sentences. The show is expected to explore his rise and notorious reputation during Washington, D.C.’s violent era in the early ’90s.
