Lil Durk Claims He’s Been Locked In Solitary Confinement For 4 Months + Lawyers Warn It May Violate His Constitutional Rights
A newly filed court motion is shining an alarming light on the conditions Lil Durk has reportedly endured behind bars — including months spent in extreme isolation.
According to his attorney, Christy O’Connor, the Chicago rapper has been held in solitary confinement for four months after jail officials accused him of possessing an Apple Watch. His legal team argues the punishment was imposed “without process” and may violate his constitutional rights.
“[Lil Durk] is confined to a very small jail cell, just large enough for a single bed, a toilet, and a sink, for 23 hours a day,” the filing states. “He does not have access to commissary. He is permitted one phone call a month, and no in-person social visits.”
The defense also referenced medical research detailing the psychological harm linked to prolonged isolation, including “clinically significant symptoms of depression, anxiety, or guilt,” and “social isolation, loss of identity, and sensory hypersensitivity.”
“Mr. Banks’ defense team has a growing concern that his prolonged solitary confinement may implicate the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition on ‘cruel and unusual punishment,’” the motion adds.
Durk has been jailed since 2024 and awaits a May trial after pleading not guilty in a m*rder-for-hire plot.
Should they let Durk out?
