Trey Songz Sues Kansas City Police Over 2021 Chiefs Playoff Arrest + Alleges Excessive Force, Wrongful Detention & Dismissed Charges

R&B singer Trey Songz has filed a lawsuit against the Kansas City Police Department, challenging an arrest that took place during a 2021 NFL playoff game in Missouri.

According to the complaint, obtained by TMZ, the incident occurred during the AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium. Songz says he was seated when nearby fans began heckling him due to his celebrity, escalating into what he describes as thr*ats and h*rassment.

The singer alleges that when security and police arrived, they failed to shield him from “unruly, aggressive, and intoxicated attendees” and instead “physically a$$aulted, wrongfully arrested, handcuffed and detained” him. He was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, and a$$aulting an officer, but all charges were later dismissed.

Songz claims the encounter caused physical injuries, emotional distress, reputational harm, and financial losses. He is seeking unspecified damages. Police have not publicly responded.
