US Women’s Hockey Team Declines Trump’s State Of The Union Invitation After He Downplays Their Olympic Gold Medal Win, Flavor Flav Offers To Host Team In Las Vegas
Flavor Flav is stepping up in a big way.
The U.S. women’s hockey team has declined President #Trump’s invitation to attend his State of the Union address. A spokesperson for the team said they cannot attend “due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments.” However, the decision came after Trump appeared to take a dig at their gold medal win. Last week, the women defeated Canada in a dramatic Milan finale to claim gold at the #WinterOlympics.
A few days later, the U.S. men’s hockey team also won gold. During a celebratory call with the team, Trump invited the men to the Union address and joked that he would “probably be impeached” if he didn’t also extend an invite to the women. The footage showed the men’s hockey team laughing in the locker room at Trump’s comment, and they’re now receiving widespread backlash.
Reacting to the situation, #FlavorFlav took to X, saying, “If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite, I’ll host them in Las Vegas. …I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real.” Multiple companies have since reached out to assist in getting the women to Las Vegas. Flav, an advocate for female athletes, previously helped the U.S. women’s water polo team travel to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
