Jay Z’s has brought his Made in America to the west coast. On Wednesday, he announced that the festival will officially come to Los Angeles. The rap mogul and Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that the festival will take over downtown’s Grand Park and surrounding areas in front of and around City Hall over Labor Day weekend (Aug. 30-31). Jay Z said during the press conference on City Hall:
Two years ago, this was a dream. I had a vision of putting together a festival that blurred those lines of genres.
Mr. Carter explained that his reason for placing the festival in the middle of the city “and not far away” is so that it can be more inclusive for concertgoers. The festival began in Philadelphia and the LA version will be staged at the same time. The two-day festival is expected to attract 50,000 festivalgoers to Grand Park.
Last year’s Made in America festival included his superstar wife, Beyoncé, along with Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, Public Enemy, Queens of the Stone Age, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Calvin Harris.
No lineup was announced during Wednesday’s reveal. What are your thoughts about the festival including LA? [LA Times, Associated Press]
