(EXCLUSIVE) Drake – Music Company Demands $117K in Rappers Royalties From Cash Money Records
Drake (real name Aubrey Drake Graham) is at the center of another legal battle involving his royalties, this time a music company is accusing Cash Money Records of refusing to pay over $117K owed to them from the rappers music sales — theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports.
Back in 2011, the company, MFMNG Productions explains a musician named Cedric Hill licensed 2 songs to Cash Money & Young Money Records. The music was to be sampled on 2 of Drake’s tracks “Over My Dead Body” and “H.Y.F.R.” (Hell Yeah F-cking Right) on his album, ‘”Take Care”.
Per the licensing deal, Cash Money was to pay royalties ranging from 2.5% – 10% from Drake’s sales of the songs.
Cedric then sold off his rights and future royalty payments to MFMNG Productions. They were assigned all power to collect the money due from Drake’s album sales.
