La’Myia Good On Marriage, Doing Reality TV + Cast Drama

La’Myia Good-Belligner is an entrepreneur, mother, wife, and reality star who has been silently making her way around the entertainment industry for the greater part of her career. Fans might have seen Good in movies like ‘The Wood,’ and ‘Video Girl.’ She also was signed to Arista records in the early 2000s with R&B girl group, Isyss. After taking some time to herself, in 2015, Good married Grammy-Award winning artist, Eric Bellinger and became a mother.

Since the catapult of happily ever afters and child birth, Good has been working closely with her sister, Meagan Good, to help promote their foundation, Greater Good Foundation, and starring in her new reality series, The Platinum Life, which airs on E!.

In a new interview with theJasmineBRAND.com, La’Myia dishes on her non-profit, doing reality television, drama with cast mate Shantel Jackson and the price of being married to someone in the music industry. Check out the excerpts below.

How La’Myia got her start:

I started off in music. Music was always what was in my heart. I had an opportunity and I took it. I was signed to Arista records with an R&B group. Then I went back into acting. I’ve done some films, live theater. Then, I met my husband, got married, had a baby. So now I’m a mommy, an entrepreneur, and a woman’s advocate.

About her non-profit organization, The Greater Good Foundation, with her sister, Meagan Good:

Our idea and concept of it was really to invoke passion and purpose into young women, and facilitate opportunities. Its hard when you don’t have anybody to look up to.

Why she decided to do reality television:

I wanted a platform for our non-profit. I’m tired of begging to help students at schools. Also, for me, this was really fitting to be in the company of other women who are making opportunities and following their own dreams and own ideas of success. That’s dope.

If she was apprehensive about joining reality television:

For sure. I don’t have a big group of friends, and being in a large group of women was nerve racking. I’ve been in this industry for so long; I’ve been to the clubs, I’ve seen it, I’ve done it.

If she was apprehensive about showcasing her marriage:

Not at all. We’ve been acquaintances for over fifteen years. I felt like we were already putting our relationship out there – via social media – this [reality TV] is just a different platform. I am most protective of my family, but the foundation, for what? It had to be the right thing, though!

How she handles being married to someone heavily involved in the music industry:

I don’t have to. I don’t feel like I should have to be in a situation, and I have to handle the situation. He’ll definitely let it be known, any disrespect, we not having that. He protects me. Also, we are so like, ‘on a mission,’ that’s [infidelity] not in the realm of my mind, or his mind.

How she and cast mate Crystal [Smith] clicked:

I’ve known Crystal for maybe like five years. Since day one, she was always very transparent; very real. And for me, that speaks volumes.

Addressing the dinner and weird energy with cast mate Shantel Jackson (see the video above):

To be honest, I definitely wear my feelings on my sleeve. I had been through some instances where Shantel was being wishy washy with me, and I really don’t like that. I don’t want to guess if you want to be cool [friends] today or not. And I don’t have a vested interest, we are not that close of friends.

The status of her relationship with Shantel:

I just don’t like wishy washy behavior. Every time you see me, I’m going to be me, through and through.

Why she decided to have cosmetic surgery done to her breasts:

I had very high titties. I had really nice, normal boobs. So my thing is, I want fullness again. I was very comfortable with my boobs. I didn’t want anything new. I just wanted my physique.

If she felt like she was accurately portrayed on the show:

Yeah, I do.

If there was anything she would do differently:

No. I feel like I went in the game I’m going to speak what’s true to my heart, and even if I look crazy, I was willing to take that risk, and I was honest and truthful, and I can sleep at night.

How she feels about some of the backlash her sister Meagan Good experiences:

I’m a bulldog for my sister. Anybody knows, I will eat your face. That’s my best friend!
