Viola Davis To Star In ‘I Almost Forgot About You’
Viola Davis is heading back to the big screen. The Academy Award winner is teaming up with director Malcolm D. Lee for I Almost Forgot About You. Based on the Terry McMillian book, Davis will portray,
Georgia Young, a twice-divorced, successful optometrist. Despite a life, full of great friends and family, she hasn’t felt a romantic spark in awhile, and feeling bored and restless. She decides it’s time to change, and goes on a wild journey of self-discovery, reuniting with old lovers, and getting a brand new lease on life.
Davis will star and produce with husband Julius Tennon for their JuVee Production company. Ron Bass, Oscar award winning script writer of “Rain Main” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding” will write the script alongside McMillian.
McMillian has penned several popular books that were turned into films including: “Waiting To Exhale,” “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” Disappearing Acts,” and “A Day Late and a Dollar Short.”

Davis’ film breakthrough came in 2008 when her supporting role in the drama “Doubt” earned her several nominations, including the Golden Globe, SAG, and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Greater success came to Davis in the 2010s. She won the 2010 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her role as Rose Maxon in the revival of “Fences.” For her lead role as a maid in 1960s in the comedy-drama “The Help” (2011), she received nominations for the Golden Globe, BAFTA, and the Academy Award for Best Actress, and won a SAG Award.
In 2014, Davis began starring as the lawyer Annalise Keating on the ABC drama How to Get Away with Murder, and in 2015 she became the first black woman of any nationality to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The role also won her two SAG Awards in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in “Fences.”
Davis will also star in “Widows” directed by Steve McQueen, “Small Great Things” with fellow Oscar winner Julia Roberts and will produce the series Black Don’t Crack with Larry Wilmore for ABC.
Lee directed the massively successful “Girl’s Trip” starring Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Tiffany Haddish and Regina Hall. He also just wrapped the Atlanta filmed “Night School” starring Kevin Hart.
