Russell Simmons Removed by HBO From “All Def Comedy”
The backlash continues for Russell Simmons. Reportedly, HBO is removing Simmons’ name from the stand-up series “All Def Comedy”. An HBO spokesperson says,
HBO will be airing All Def Comedy as planned. However, Russell Simmons will not appear in the new series and we will be removing his name from the show moving forward. The series is a platform for promising and upcoming comedians and we do not want to deprive them of an opportunity to showcase their talents to a national audience. We have no other projects with Russell Simmons.
The series is hosted by Tony Rock and will premiere Dec. 1. It is produced by Simmons’ All Def Digital. The series is a continuation of Def Comedy Jam, Simmons’ stand-up series that airing from 1992 to 1997 on HBO. HBO’s decision comes amidst Simmons announcing earlier today that he is stepping down from his businesses, after two women (click here for the latest) alleged sexual assault.
Do you agree with HBO’s decision?
