Victoria Mahoney Will Be The 1st Black Woman To Direct For Star Wars Franchise Film
Victoria Mahoney has been tapped to be second unit director on “Star Wars: Episode IX.” Ava DuVernay, who became the first African American woman to sign on to direct a major superhero film in DC’s “The New Gods”, shared the news on social media.
Mahoney is reportedly the first black woman to direct a Star Wars film.
Her recent credits include writing and directing the the loosely autobiographical indie film “Yelling At The Sky”; she directed “Red Line” and she is also writing for TV an adaptation of the novel Dawn, for DuVernay and Charles King’s “MACRO”.
