Desus & Mero Snag Showtime’s 1st Late Night Talk Show
Best buds and comedians Desus Nice and The Kid Mero have left their Viceland late night talk show, but they’re happy to be celebrating, as they have officially signed a new deal with Showtime. The currently untitled show will be executive produced by the pair, along with Victor Lopez and is scheduled to air in 2019. On the series, they will speak with celebrity guests and candidly discuss current events, music, pop culture, politics and sports. This will be Showtime’s first late night talk show.
The news comes just days after Desus (born Daniel Baker) and Mero (born Joel Martinez) left Viceland after headlining a show on the network since 2016. Desus said,
We’re honored and excited to be joining the Showtime family. The brand is stronger than ever and we look forward to continuing to make amazing, authentic television that will make your wiggington explode.
Mero added,
I’m excited to be joining a network with such a strong foundation and track record of producing fuegooooo and to break new ground with a late-night comedy show!
The Bronx born duo have known each other since high school. In 2013, they created The Bodega Boys podcast and Internet series Desus vs. Mero, gaining a loyal following and digital fame as they expressed their thoughts on politics, current events, and pop culture.
They will continue to host their podcast.
