Jordan Peele Signs On As Executive Producer With Monkeypaw Productions
Initially announced in 2017, CBS ordered a reboot of the early 90s classic The Twilight Zone, which ran from 1959 to 1964. The network enlisted Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films to help revive the once enchanting series. The show’s creator, Rod Sterling, also served as the host and wrote at least 80 of the mind bending episodes out of a reported catalog of 156 episodes. Not only will Peele executive produce the reboot, he will also be presenting himself as the narrator and the host for the CBS All Access show. In a statement, he spoke about the opportunity to re-launch the series,
Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time, but prophesied issues of ours. I’m honored to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of The Twilight Zone.

In August, the “Get Out” writer and director elaborated on the approach he plans to take with the fan favorite,
If we approach it without ego and sort of bow to Serling, that will hopefully suffice for our fellow ‘Twilight Zone’ fans but also bring back a show that I think is needed right now. Because it’s a show that has always helped us look at ourselves, hold a mirror up to society.
The series will be apart of CBS’ subscription based digital content streaming service. It has not been confirmed if Peele will write any episodes for the reboot but production for mystique show is set to begin this fall; it will have an official premiere date in 2019.
Peele shared a trailer for the series earlier this week.
