Michael Jackson Items Removed From Children’s Museum 

In the aftermath of the two-part film which reopened sexual abuse allegations against the King of Pop, Michael Jackson,  a children’s museum in Indianapolis has removed several Jackson items from their exhibit.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis displayed three Jackson items which included a black fedora, Jackson’s famous glove woren onstage, and a poster. All items were added in 2017 from a New York auction house for the Galleries for American Arts and Popular Culture, according to reports.

In an attempt to separate the museum’s connection to the HBO doc called, ‘Leaving Neverland,’ the director of collection, Chris Carron, spoke on their decision to remove three Jackson items,

“When we put together exhibitions, we look at the objects and their association with high-profile people. “Obviously, we want to put stories in front of our visitors (showing) people of high character.

Carron continues, mentioning the removal was a group decision for the museum,

“We always deal with this collaboratively as a team. We look at our audiences we look at the messages were trying to tell as an institution. What sort of stories do we want to tell in the exhibit? We’re looking for good examples of how to make an impact on the world. That’s really where ur focus lies.”

As perviously reported, the two-part doc premiered March 3-4 and focused on two of Jackson’s accusers, Wade Robson and James Safechuck stories. Some radio stations have also removed their association from Jackson in light of the doc. Stations in Canada and New Zealand have committed to wiping MJ’s catalog from their roster. MediaWorks radio director, Leon Wratt, said:

“Michael Jackson isn’t currently on any MediaWorks Radio stations’ playlists. This is a reflection of our audiences and their preferences—it is our job to ensure our radio stations are playing the music people want to hear.”
