Lenny Kravitz To Assist Designing New Hotel, ‘Temple Detroit’
Singer/actor Lenny Kravitz is gearing up for a new project, and no, it’s not music. The rock legend is stepping into new territory to assist in the design of a forthcoming hotel for the city of Detroit.
Lenny Kravitz has conquered music and acting on the big and small screens, now he’s ready to tackle property design. According to reports, he is part of the design team that will bring forth a new hotel to Detroit. “Temple Detroit,” the hotel’s name, is a new hotel and residential development in Detroit’s Cass Corridor.
The development will feature 100 hotel rooms, 70 residential units and a generous amount of retail space for businesses. “Temple Detroit” is set to open in June 2020. With a hefty price-tag of $72 million, the project will be designed by architecture firm McIntosh Poris Associates alongside Lenny Kravitz’ interior design company, Kravitz Design, which is based in New York.
Speaking of the “Temple Detroit” project and what the city means to him, Kravitz had this to say:
“Detroit is a special place with a fascinating history. My connection with the city has been through the decades of music created there. In recent years, I have also become interested in Detroit as a city being reborn. It’s very satisfying as a result for myself and the Kravitz Design team to offer our energy and ideas to the success of the Temple Hotel, as well as Detroit. We are excited to collaborate with both Christos Moisides and my good friend Sam Nazarian and his team at sbe on this project.”
In addition to providing live music, popular DJ’s and various entertainment in the subterranean club and exclusive Vault Bar, “Temple Detroit” will also offer guests award-winning mixology and culinary experiences. Additional amenities of the development include a rooftop pool/lounge area with skyline views of the city, a full-service spa and indoor/outdoor event spaces.
