Congrats are in order for TODAY show co-host, Hoda Kotb. She revealed that she adopted a second baby girl, named Hope Catherine, during a phone interview with her co-anchors Tuesday morning. Hope is now the little sister of Kotb’s oldest daughter, Haley Joy, 2, who Kotb adopted in February 2017. Hope’s middle name Catherine came as an inspiration from Kotb’s best friend, Karen Swensen, whose daughter’s name is Catherine.

Kotb had a teary moment and said,
“I’m feeding her and I can’t believe it. I’m so happy she’s here!”
And it’s safe to say little Haley Joy is filling her big sister role like a champ. Kotb said,
“This morning at breakfast (Haley) was trying to feed (Hope) her raspberries and I was like, ‘Not yet, babe.’ She was literally marching around saying, ‘I’m a big sister.'”
Kotb said there’s plenty of love to go around for both girls as she and her longtime boyfriend, Joel Schiffman, get into parent gear with two babies.

“You know what’s funny? You think that you’re full. That’s exactly how I felt with Haley and Joel and everything. Joel and I were standing there when they hand you the baby, and it’s the closest thing to a live birth you’ll ever see, but in that moment I was like, ‘Oh my God, my heart just grew. It’s amazing. I can’t believe it’s happening.”
Kotb has been an advocate for adoption and said on World Adoption Day in 2018,
“I feel like if you’re meant to have a child in your life, your child is out there. They said to me at the adoption agency, ‘Don’t worry, your child is out there waiting for you.’ And I remember I would scribble in my journal, ‘I know you’re there.’ I could feel her.”
Congrats to Hoda Kotb and the addition to her family!
