Meek Mill Donates 500 Backpacks To His Former Elementary School
Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill took a moment to give back to his community by donating more than 500 backpacks to students at his former elementary school on Friday (Sept 13th). In a video, Meek is seen totally surprising the unsuspecting students as several were just in shock of his presences. The rapper soon after jumps on the microphone to share with the auditorium full at James G. Blaine Elementary School, how he wanted to reach back to show his appreciation. Meek says,
“I wanted to stop by here today, my elementary school that I grew up in, kindergarten to the 1st grade, i just wanted to stop by and to show my love and appreciate to my neighborhood.”
He continues,
“I want to give a shout out to Puma for collaborating with me on school supplies and book bags for the school.”
Additionally, more than 30 classroom packs were given to teachers so they would have enough supplies for the school year.
Meek ended his speech with a important message to the students,
“I came here to give the kids a message: Continue to chase your dreams.”
His philanthropy comes on the hills of his recent freedom from the tough justice system in his local area. As previously reported in August, Meek celebrated a Judge overturning his conviction from drug and gun charges that dates back to 2008.

In a press conference, he thanked his supporters for backing him through the process.
“I’m very thankful from the bottom of my heart — everybody that ever mentioned my name or said, ‘Free Meek’ or helped me get to this position.”
The crowd started to yell “Free Meek!” and he let them know that’s already done.
“Meek free. I’m not on probation no more. I don’t have to go to court no more.”
He said his work with social justice will keep going strong.
“I know y’all probably got family members in jail or people going through the same thing as me, and I will continue to do what I do with the reform movement and help the people who help me.”
