“Leaving Neverland” Director Calls Dave Chappelle’s Comments on Michael Jackson “Completely Revolting”
According to the “Leaving Neverland” director, the joke is on Dave Chappelle this time around. After winning an Emmy for the documentary, Dan Reed commented on Dave’s controversial Netflix comedy special, “Sticks & Stones,” in which the funny man openly admits to not believing Michael Jackson‘s child molestation accusers.
In “Sticks & Stones,” Dave Chappelle says this:
“You know why I don’t believe it? ‘Cause if Michael Jackson is out here doing all this molesting, then why not Macaulay Culkin? Macaulay Culkin said in an interview that Michael Jackson never did anything inappropriate with him, or even around him…you know, I’m not a pedophile. But if I was, Macaulay Culkin’s the first kid I’m f*ckin’! I’ll tell you that!”
Dan calls the joke:
“…completely revolting.”
He says that Dave Chappelle is committed to “riding the wave of being contrarian,” adding this:
“You can make comedy out of so many other things. Why not do something brave instead of crapping on a victim of child rape?”
Ironically, “Sticks & Stones” was met with extremely low ratings from critics, including a Rotten Tomatoes score of 33 percent. One critic called Dave Chappelle’s latest special:
“Like dropping in on a rascally uncle who doesn’t know, or doesn’t care, how much he’s disappointing you.”
Yikes!
