Kevin Durant Durant On The Knicks Struggle To Sign Superstar Talent: The Cool Thing Now Is NOT The Knicks

NBA star, Kevin Durant continues to stick a knife in the wounds of some New York Knicks fans after his comments on the organization’s ability to sign top NBA talent. This week, the newly acquired Brooklyn Nets forward stated how players don’t see it for the Knicks. Durant says,

“I think a lot of fans look at the Knicks as a brand and expect these younger players in their lifetime don’t remember the Knicks being good. I’ve seen the Knicks in the Finals, but kids coming up after me didn’t see that. So that whole brand of the Knicks is not as cool as let’s say the Golden State Warriors, or even the Lakers or the Nets now.”

Rumors sparked during last season that the Knicks would make a full-court run to sign Durant once he became a free agent. Instead, the Knicks fell short again as Durant signed a multiyear contract with the Brooklyn Nets. The two-time NBA Champion continues,

“You know what I’m saying; the cool thing now is not the Knicks.”

Durant has also commented on leaving Steph Curry and the Warriors. He says that after three seasons, he never quite felt fully accepted with the team.

“As time went on, I started to realize I’m just different from the rest of the guys. It’s not a bad thing. Just my circumstances and how I came up in the league. And on top of that, the media always looked at it like KD and the Warriors. So it’s like nobody could [get] a full acceptance of me there.”

Prior to joining the Warriors, Durant spent nearly ten years with the Oklahoma City Thunder. In the summer of 2016, the 2-time NBA champion created a “super team,” by joining the Warriors. Following his departure, Durant says Thunder fans gave him a toxic feeling,

“Such a venomous toxic feeling when I walked into that arena. And just the organization, the trainers and equipment managers, those dudes is pissed off at me? Ain’t talking to me? I’m like, Yo, this is where we going with this? Because I left a team and went to play with another team?”

The NBA star has a long road to recovery as he’s is expected to miss the upcoming season, according to reports.

“The Nets have said they are not planning on the 10-time All-Star playing this season as he recovers from the ruptured Achilles he suffered in the NBA Finals with the Warriors.“

Durant underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles he suffered during  Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
