2019 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Officially Canceled
Unfortunately, it looks like Shanina Shaik was right. As we reported in July, the former Victoria’s Secret model gave the first unofficial confirmation that the coveted Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show would not be happening in 2019. In an interview this year, Shanina Shaik dropped this bomb on the lingerie retailer’s fans:
“Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year. It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an angel. But I’m sure in the future something will happen, which I’m pretty sure about. I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world.”
Leslie Wexner – CEO of Victoria’s Secret’s parent company, L Brands – then, said this about the show’s looming cancellation:
“[My colleagues and I] have decided to re-think the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Going forward we don’t believe network television is the right fit.”
Well, that sentiment was confirmed yesterday. (11/21/19) L Brands’ CFO, Stuart Burgdoerfer, confirmed that December 2019 would not mark its 24th anniversary in an exclusive statement to E! News:
“We’ll be communicating to customers, but nothing that I would say is similar in magnitude to the fashion show… You can be sure we’ll be communicating with customers through lots of vehicles including social media and various, more current platforms, if you will.”
What do you think about the end of this era of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show? Let us know in the comments.
