She stated,
“The White House has been humbled by the outreach of individuals from Kenosha who have welcomed the President’s visit and are longing for leadership to support local law enforcement and businesses that have been vandalized.”
However, this statement comes hours after a letter written by the governor of Wisconsin, Tony Evers, urging the President to reconsider his visit. He wrote,
“I am concerned your presence will only hinder our healing. I am concerned your presence will only delay our work to overcome division and move forward together.”
Evers continued,
“It is our job as elected officials to lead by example and to be a calming presence for the people we know are hurting, mourning, and trying to cope with trauma. Now is not the time for divisiveness. Now is not the time for elected officials to ignore armed militants and out-of-state instigators who want to contribute to our anguish.”

It was announced Saturday that Trump plans to travel to Kenosha to visit with law enforcement and reportedly survey the damage in the city.
As previously reported, the city has experienced heightened unrest after a video began circulating of a Black man (Jacob Blake) being shot seven times in front of his children, by a White police officer while attempting to get in his car. (Caution: Graphic videos below)
Riots, protests, and professional sports boycotts have all ensued as a result of the tragedy.

As for Trump and his visit to Wisconsin, when asked if he plans to visit with the family of Jacob Blake, White House spokesperson, Judd Deere said that the President’s schedule hasn’t been ironed out yet.
