Derek Chauvin Has Reportedly Been Placed On Suicide Watch After Being Found Guilty For George Floyd’s Death
According to reports, Derek Chauvin has been placed on suicide watch after being found guilty for the murder of George Floyd. As previously reported, in May of last year, former Minneapolis policeman Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd‘s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds while arresting him for allegedly using a counterfeit $20 bill. Unfortunately, his actions led to the death of 46-year-old George Floyd. On Tuesday (April 20th) Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all three counts against him: unintentional second-degree murder; third-degree murder; and second-degree manslaughter.

Chauvin is being held at Minnesota Correctional Facility-Oak Park Heights as he awaits his sentencing. He was denied bail and will be sentenced in about eight weeks. According to reports, Chauvin was placed in the prison’s segregated housing unit, which is separate from the general public, for his own safety. He is reportedly being held in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day. Chauvin is being watched closely and is reportedly on suicide watch in an effort to protect him from harming himself as well as other inmates who may want to harm him.
