R. Kelly’s Former Atlanta Mansion Where He Allegedly Held Women Captive Sells For Almost $2 Million
A lavish home with an allegedly dark past now has a new owner.
According to TMZ, the Atlanta mansion R. Kelly used to rent sold for $1,785,000 earlier this month. The home gained notoriety upon the release of the six-part documentary on his alleged victims, Surviving R. Kelly. In the docuseries, various women claimed they were held in the home to be part of his alleged sex cult. They also claimed their movements and habits within the home were under R. Kelly‘s strict control, with him allegedly forcing them to refer to him as “Daddy.” The alleged victims also claimed they were forced to ask R. Kelly for permission to eat and use the bathroom.
R. Kelly continues to deny all allegations against him as he awaits federal trial. The disgraced singer is due in court on Aug. 9th to face trial for a plethora of charges–including child sexual exploitation, kidnapping, forced labor, bribery, and racketeering. He is also facing separate charges brought on by the state of Illinois.
Regarding the property itself, the 11,455 square foot mansion boasts 12-foot ceilings, 7 bedrooms, and 2 kitchens. Additionally, it has a total of 7 fireplaces, a 4-car garage, and a home theatre. Outdoors, the property also has a pool, spa, tennis court, treehouse, and playhouse.
