NBA YoungBoy Denied Bond In Firearms Possession Case, Rapper Will Remain In Jail Until His Trial
NBA YoungBoy will remain behind bars for the time being.
Yesterday (Tuesday, July 27th), reports began circulating that NBA YoungBoy–also known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again–was denied bond. NBA YoungBoy (real name Kentrell Gaulden) was arrested back in March after he evaded LAPD officers and was found with two firearms in his possession. Because the rapper’s a convicted felon, he is not allowed to own guns–and, to top it off, one of the weapons was unregistered. Police were pursuing the rapper over for an outstanding warrant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The judge presiding over NBA YoungBoy‘s case denied the rapper bond because he’s considered a “danger to the community.” Court documents read:
“[NBA YoungBoy] is a danger to the community, [and] no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of any other person and the community.”
Resultingly, the “Slime Belief” rapper will remain in custody until his court trial. It is unclear when the trial will begin.
It is also worth noting that NBA YoungBoy denies the charges against him, with his lawyer claiming:
“There is no evidence that [NBA YoungBoy] personally handled the firearm located within the vehicle at the time of his [March arrest].”
Despite NBA YoungBoy‘s various legal troubles over the past year, he was named the third highest-grossing rapper of 2020.
