OnlyFans Will Ban Sexually Explicit Videos In October
The popular online service is gearing up to remove sexually explicit videos from its service.
OnlyFans has attracted more than 130 million followers. The websites’s popularity grew during the pandemic, specifically when celebrities began sharing intimate videos. With an account and fee, fans were able to see their favorites like Cardi B and Blac Chyna performing a wide range of acts, including sexually explicit ones.

But beginning in October, the service will prohibit videos of sexual acts and conduct on its website, which many creators, including sex workers use to sell to their followers. But as long as they follow OnlyFans guidelines, users can still post nude photos and videos.
Although OnlyFans has provided a safe space for sex workers to do their work, this change was brought on by the effort to sustain investors. In a statement from OnlyFans, they stated,
“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines,”
For some like Silfy, a 30-year-old from Dallas, the news is over disappointing as she relies on the site to pay her bills. Silfy began working for OnlyFans during the pandemic and has even spoken with founder, Tim Stokely.
OnlyFans, which is ran by its founder, Tim Stokely, and owned by Leonid Radvinsky, an internet entrepreneur, is seeking one billion from outside investors.
At this time, their is no indication as to how the changes will impact celebrities like Bhad Bhadie, who earned one million in six hours on the site but Silfy is already feeling left out.

She said,
“If you look at all the promos, they don’t promote us at all,” Silfy said. “I noticed a huge drop in them promoting people who did sex work.”
