Wendy Williams was initially scheduled to return on Sept. 20. Her Instagram page first hinted at health issues when it informed fans know she wouldn’t do any press for the upcoming season.

It was later reported that Wendy Williams was diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID-19, and the show’s 13th season would be pushed back to Oct. 4 as she quarantined and recovered.

Shortly after, it was reported that she voluntarily checked into a physiatric hospital, and was released a few days later. It’s not clear what Wendy Williams is battling behind closed doors, but an insider previously claimed she was “drinking every day, even while filming the show.” They added,

“Everyone is an enabler because they don’t want to lose their job. They see it, they know it, they smelled the liquor… Her staffers are worried but no one is ever going to speak up because they don’t want to lose their jobs. She’s an alcoholic. A bad one. She doesn’t need a talk show, she needs help.”

While there was speculation she would postpone the show a second time, a separate insider said she was “ready to get back to work,” adding:

“Wendy is on the mend, and doing well. There was a meeting this week, and [execs] assured staff the show will return on Oct. 4.”

It looks like she’s still on the mend as earlier this week, she was spotted getting pushed in a wheelchair in New York City.
