Snoop Dogg Sued For Copyright Infringement After Sharing Viral Instagram Video
Snoop Dogg is facing some legal trouble.
The 49-year-old rapper is known to use his Instagram to post funny and viral moments, but for one video in particular, he’s being sued for copyright infringement.

FreedomNews.TV accused Snoop Dogg of posting a viral video without their permission. The video in question was posted back on April 2nd and shows a protester climbing up a JP Morgan Chase building in Manhattan, then falling with paint spilling out around him. The protester was taking part in an anti-capitalist demonstration.
The Gin and Juice rapper posted the video to his Instagram and captioned it,
“Dummy of the Week.”

The video is still live and was reportedly viewed more than 4.5 million times since April. The case was filed Monday, Oct. 18th, and FreedomNews.TV is claiming that it’s an exact copy of the original. According to reports, FreedomNews.TV is also accusing Snoop Dogg of violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act since he shared the alleged copyrighted footage without crediting them. The media outlet wrote,
“Defendant purposefully failed to include the video credit originally conveyed with the video in order to mislead the public into believing that defendant either owned the video or had legitimately licensed it.”
He’s not the only celebrity that’s been sued for posting to social media. In 2019 singer, Dua Lipa, was sued over posting a paparazzi image of herself to her Instagram. Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber were also sued in similar cases. Snoop Dogg has yet to comment on the lawsuit at this time.
