R. Kelly Officially Replaces His Chicago Legal Team W/ Bill Cosby’s Appellate Attorney
New details have recently surfaced surrounding R. Kelly’s ongoing legal troubles.
According to reports, Yesterday (Feb. 16) R&B star turned convicted felon R. Kelly, 55, cut ties with his Chicago legal team and hired the lawyer who successfully appealed 84-year-old Bill Cosby’s conviction to defend him against the pending abuse allegations he’s facing.

As previously reported, R. Kelly is awaiting sentencing in a Brooklyn federal jail after being found guilty last September for multiple crimes including racketeering and violating the Mann Act. Kelly faces a second trial for allegedly producing child pornography, which is set for August of this year.
During a reported telephone conference that took place yesterday morning (Feb.16), Kelly revealed that he wants Bill Cosby’s appellate attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, to represent him moving forward. When asked by U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber if he was cutting ties with his Chicago-based attorneys, Kelly replied,
“That’s correct, your honor.”

Kelly seems to be getting rid of all his former attorneys. Earlier this month the ‘Ignition’ singer’s three trial attorneys from his first case also withdrew their appearances.
