Jussie Smollett – Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot Reacts To His Conviction: False Allegations Will NOT Be Tolerated, The City Feels Vindicated!

Following the sentencing of Jussie Smollett, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is in good spirits with the outcome for the former Empire star faking the hate crime. Jussie Smollett was sentenced by a Chicago judge to 30 months of probation, 150 days in jail, and ordered to pay Chicago $120,000 in restitution and a $25,000 fine.

Lori Lightfoot speaks out with the hopes that the conviction sends a message to anyone who would make such claims.

“The criminal conviction of Jussie Smollett by a jury of his peers and today’s sentencing should send a clear message to everyone in the City of Chicago that false claims and allegations will not be tolerated,” says Lori Lightfoot in a statement after Jussie Smollett was sentenced. 

Although sentenced, the actor still claims his innocence for staging the attack on him on January 29, 2019. Smollett claims that two lovers of Donald Trump attacked him. The men put a noose around his neck, splashed him with bleach and called out racist and homophobic slurs at him.
Smollet also spoke out after his sentencing by Judge James Linn, screaming out in the court “I’m innocent!”
“If I did this, then it means that I shoved my fist in the fears of black Americans in this country for over 400 years and the fears of the LGBTQ community,” Smollett yelled. 
“Your honor, I respect you and I respect your decision, but I did not do this and I am not suicidal. If anything happens to me when I go in there, I did not do it to myself, and you must all know that,” he continued.
