Dame Dash Loses Film Rights Battle, Ordered To Pay Over $800,000
It looks like Dame Dash is in a bit of legal trouble!
According to reports, Damon ‘Dame’ Dash, 50, has to pay over $800,000 to pay the director and producers of a movie he allegedly tried to claim as his own. Reportedly, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder was sued three years ago for copyright infringement and defamation by director Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures who made the film, “Dear Frank”. They alleged that Dame Dash tried to shop and advertise the movie as his own, despite him getting dropped from the project.

Josh and Muddy Waters say Dame was supposed to direct the film starting in 2016, but they claimed he wasn’t fit for the job because he allegedly was often high while on set.
They also claim that Dame Dash sent promo material of the movie to media outlets like BET, but changed the title from “Dear Frank” to “The List.” They cut ties with him in 2018 and completed the movie on their own without Dash. The entrepreneur/record exec fired back, claiming they shot the movie at his house and used his equipment, before stealing the footage to work on it without him.
Unfortunately for Dash, the jury sided with Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures and now he is left with a pretty hefty bill. Attorney Chris Brown who represented the plaintiffs had this to say,
“I will get every penny due to my clients.”
Dame Dash has yet to speak out on the matter.
