Rap star Nicki Minaj’s U.K. fans frantically showed out in London over the weekend, causing them to miss out on the chance to meet their Queen.
After performing at the Wireless Festival this past Sunday (July 10th), “Super Bass” artist Nicki Minaj invited her fans to a meet & greet the following day. The 39-year-old musician took to Instagram live to announce she’d be at cafe Koko in Camden and urged her fans – called the Barbz, to spread the word. However after police failed to settle the unruly crowd, Nicki Minaj was forced to vacate the area.
Before her exit, video clips show Nicki, born Onika Tanya Maraj, attempting to pull into the venue. The decorated artist was able to stick her head out of the window and briefly wave to her hundreds of admirers.
Minaj took to her twitter shortly after to urge the sea of fans to calm, stating that she wouldn’t be allowed to enter if they didn’t collect themselves. The Young Money rapper quote tweeted a video of the crowd, writing the caption:
“Guys, if you don’t get in a contained space they won’t let me get out the cars. Pls don’t run in the streets. Please get in 1 place. 1 line”

Another video shows Minaj’s attempt to exit her car and enter the venue. As she steps out of her vehicle, she repeatedly demands the crowd to back up. It seems most refused, however, as one super fan posted a close up of the moment, showing him being pushed away by the Barbz Queen herself.
Reports state that subsequently, police came in to announce Minaj was no longer coming to the event. One officer reportedly yelled into the crowd:
“Regardless of what Ms. Minaj is tweeting, she is not here. She has driven past, she has gone.”
Police reportedly shut down the event, closing nearby roads while trying to clear out the growing crowd. As Minaj exited the scene, hundreds ran after the vehicle attempting to get one last glimpse of the international superstar.
Minaj reposted a video of her exit, with the caption:
“Which means I gotta fly like a movie- NO COMMERCIAL! That’s YOUNG MONEY, CASH MONEY, yea I’m UNIVERSAL #WorldwideBarbie #BarbzILoveYouSoMuch”
Many social users awed and applauded the “legendary” moment, comparing the scene to the late Michael Jackson.
