Alfonso Ribeiro Joins Tyra Banks As Co-Host For ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ 8 Years After He Won The Competition Series
“Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” star Alfonso Ribeiro is joining “Dancing With The Stars” as a co-host alongside Tyra Banks as the program moves from ABC to Disney+.
The 50-year-old actor/tv host is joining the franchise eight years after he won season 19. In a press statement released Thursday (July 14), Alfonso Ribeiro shared his excitement about re-joining the competition series. He said,
“‘Dancing with the Stars’ has been such an important part of my life for so many years, and I am ecstatic to officially re-join this tight-knit family as cohost. Tyra and I have a longstanding friendship that I hope will resonate with all of the fans at home as we kick off this new season on Disney+.”

Tyra Banks, 48,– who was controversially hired in 2020 to replace fan favorites Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews–also gushed about working with Alfonso.
“I’ve known Alfonso since I was 19 years old and he always puts a smile on my face whenever I see him.. Having such a fun-loving, longtime friend as co-host warms my heart. Plus, he’s won the competition before, so he knows exactly what the stars are going through. Bantering back and forth with him live is going to be so much fun!”

On Thursday (July 14) both Tyra and Alfonso took to social media to share the good news with their followers by posting a video confirming the “America’s Funniest Home Videos” host will be joining “Dancing With The Stars.” Alfonso wrote:
“The news is out! I’m so excited to be the new co-host of @DancingWithTheStars, coming soon to @DisneyPlus, along with Host @TyraBanks! #DWTS”
The dancing competition series spent 30 seasons on ABC from 2005 through 2021. It was announced in April that the program will no longer be on ABC and will be moving to Disney+, making it the first live program to be hosted on the streaming platform, which was launched in late 2019.
In addition to Alfonso Ribeiro and Tyra Banks, other “DWTS” fan-favorites headed to Disney+ for season 31 are judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough.
